His father James Colson Baker struggled with depression and joblessness while her mother Sonia Alane left them when the age of nine. Baker moved to Denver with his dad and stayed for some time. Baker was bullied by fellow kids because of his poverty. In the sixth grade, Baker started taking in hip-hop music. Baker was the author of four mixtapes between 2007 and 2010, before signing to Bad Boy Records. In the period 2007-2010, this Cleveland rapper, who sings the lyrics with as much speed as bullet trains, saw an explosive rise in the latter part of 2011 after switching from self-releasing mixtapes and working with respected labels. The fame of this Cleveland rapper took off after the release of his first mixtape late in 2011.
